Shopkeeper's Log

January 13th, 2026 – End of Day

January 13, 2026 by Uncommon Bookshop Leave a Comment

The wind is whipping around the corner of the building again, but the shop feels warm.

The bookmarks are sorted by color and era.

The poems are tucked back into their resting places.

I’m going upstairs to watch the sky.

Hughey is already dreaming of the moon.

Until tomorrow.

About the Shop

Uncommon Bookshop is a working shop, a reading room, and a record of the objects that pass through it.

The Shopkeeper’s Log follows the daily life of the shelves: books newly arrived, forgotten authors rediscovered, inscriptions left by former owners, old photographs, recorded music, maps, letters, paper fragments, and the occasional object that proves difficult to describe or part with.

Some entries begin with an item offered for sale. Others wander farther, into the lives of writers, illustrators, collectors, publishers, booksellers, and the shops that once held whole neighborhoods together. Together, they form an ongoing account of what books and other surviving objects carry with them, long after their first owners are gone.
